Using the example of Thor, critic John Farr speculates that some movie critics often say kind things about bad films in order to appease studios whose advertisements help provide them job security. Farr says there is no other explanation for the kind words some critics have been heaping on mediocre films. He makes a glaring exception for New York Times reviewer A.O.
