In the debate over whether it was a wise decision for A.M.P.A.S. to have doubled the number of Best Picture nominees to ten films, put Variety editor Timothy Gray squarely on the side of supporting the measure. In a column, Gray advocates the reasons why he feels the new rule will give recognition to fine films that would otherwise be denied the honor. He also lists the top reasons why many in the industry disagree with him.
