Volcano, a play by Noel Coward, was never performed in his lifetime because it was considered too steamy. Now the play is scheduled to be performed at various theaters in the UK. The play was inspired by Coward's life of leisure in Jamaica during the post WWII years, when both his house, Firefly and the house of his good friend Ian Fleming (Goldeneye) were the centers of party life on the island. The play was inspired by such celebrated guests as Laurence Olivier, Vivien Leigh and John Gielgud, all of whom indulged in nude bathing and explicit sexual behavior.
