The Los Angeles County Museum of Art is virtually eliminating its highly regarded classic movie screening program, claiming it was not profitable. The decision has outraged classic movie lovers and prominent critics and filmmakers (including Martin Scorsese), leading them to plead with the Museum to reconsider its decision. The program has been in existence for 40 years. The Museum says it will still show films, but only on an occasional basis and they will not generally be cinematic classics. To read more
