When Tennessee Williams died in 1983, his executors found an enormous archive of unpublished work by the esteemed author and playwright. Much of this voluminous material has yet to be cataloged, let alone produced. One exception is a 1957 screenplay he wrote called
The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond. Williams had envisioned it being brought to the screen by Elia Kazan and starring Julie Harris, but the project never materialized. Now, more than a half century later, a film version has been produced starring Bryce Dallas Howard, Ellen Burstyn and Ann-Margret.
