For years, major studios virtually ingnored classic TV series, releasing only a handful on VHS and in the early days of DVD. Now, however, classic series are all the rage. Studios have released most of the major series as complete collections, or season-by-season on DVD. Now they are mining another way of milking profits from old shows by making thousands of episodes available for downloading on home computers. Viewers pay a small fee to watch each show.
